Recipes

The Clover Club

Complex & frothy.

  • 1.5 oz Rhodium Gin

  • 1 oz raspberry syrup*

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • 1 oz dry vermouth

  • Half an egg white or 1 tbsp aquafaba**

Combine everything and shake without ice. Add ice, shake. Strain into martini glass. Garnish with fresh raspberry.

*Make your own by adding frozen raspberries to equal parts water and sugar, heating to a boil, turning off heat, stirring and letting cool. Strain and bottle. OR warm raspberry jam and add as liquid.

**Aquafaba is the liquid from a can of chickpeas. It’s a wonderful vegan egg replacer.

Philadephia’s own pre-Prohibition classic, the Clover Club is named for the men’s club where it originated.

Published recipes for it go as far back as 1917. Pink & frothy, it settles into beautiful layers a moment after the pour.

The Classic Martini

Stirred not shaken.

  • half oz vermouth (or less to taste)

Combine with ice in shaker. STIR until shaker is frosted or the fingers holding it are too cold to go on, whichever comes first. Strain into small martini glass. Garnish twist of lemon (or an olive, if you must).

There’s a world of legend about a martini, but at the end of the day it’s just a very cold glass of very tasty spirits.

Use Rhodium Gin or Rhodium Vodka, and add the most flavorful vermouth you can get your hands on.

The Bramble

A summertime classic.

  • 2 oz Rhodium Gin

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • 1 oz Crème de Mure or blackberry simple syrup*

Shake gin and lemon with ice, strain over crushed ice in rocks glass, drizzle blackberry liqueur or syrup over the top. Garnish with fresh blackberry.

*To make blackberry syrup, crush a handful of fresh blackberries in warm 1:1 simple syrup, infuse, strain, bottle.

Many lovely drinks can be made from a gin sour base, but the Bramble is our late summer favorite.

Invented at Fred’s Club, Soho (England) in the 1980s, it looks as good as it tastes.
